Voices, Choices, Delays, and Detoured Destiny.

Who are you listening to? What voice is determining the decisions you make? We are encumbered by a myriad of voices in our world today. Few voices carry the true sound of God’s voice. Most conform to the voice of spirit of this age. As a result, many, if not most of the actions of people are driven by the spirit of this age. The Apostle Paul said it was “the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience”. Eph. 2:2.
Yes, the prince of the power of the air so many fight against is the one controlling so many of the decisions being made today. Why? Because we only understand a little about real spiritual warfare. And while we are battling invisible enemies, a very real enemy is determining the decisions being made by whole swaths of groups of people. Yes, we are losing the battle because of the voices we are listening to. And without a change in voices, we will not have a change in our choices. Voices determine choices.
The power struggle we see taking place today is designed to silence the voice of the Church. The spread of the true gospel, not the American gospel, but the gospel of Christ, is and should be the Church’s most important mission: “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.” Mk. 16:15, NLT. The gospel preached, when believed, changes everything. The issue within the Church we’ve faced for decades is simple: We’ve lost the gospel’s message.
"I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek."

The Apostle Paul was emphatic in his support of preaching the gospel. He even rejoiced when he saw others: “Whether their motives are false or genuine, the message about Christ is being preached either way, so I rejoice.” Phil. 1:18, NLT. He said, “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.” Rom. 1:16, NKJV. The gospel is God’s power. Plain and simple.

The Church is meant to rely on that power. Yet, so few voices call the Church to rely on God’s power. So few call the Church to rely on God’s Spirit. That is the opposite of the Apostle Paul. He said of himself, “my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power”. 1 Cor. 2:4. The Apostle Paul was completely reliant on God’s power. But we, much of the Church today, have departed from relying on God’s power. And the question is: Why? I believe it’s because we’ve listened to the wrong voices.
Today, much of our world is being defined by voices of inexperience. We have individuals who take pride in what they would do, not what they’ve done. This pride of inexperience and ignorance afflicts many individuals, not only in the political arena, but nearly every area of life. And that is true in discernment in the Church. We have many voices, often echos of what was previously said by those who did have real world experience, which are determining the choices of an entire generation. And rather than acknowledge that lack of experience, it’s glossed over as being an unimportant question, as if gaslighting the person asking the question.
Wisdom recognizes reality and plans for it. Faith sees what is possible and believes for it. When faith and wisdom come together, destinies are achieved and failures avoided. Further, unexpected delays due to mistakes are avoided. In the end, we see good fruit and results are achieved. Yes, contrary to popular belief, God does expect results. “Think of how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the ground and is patient for it until it receives the early and late rains.” James 5:7, Net Bible. In this typology, God is the farmer waiting for the fruit of the earth. And we are encouraged to wait for the Lord’s coming, as God does, for the precious fruit of the earth. Or we should look for results in what we do, as God does.
Unfortunately, much of what has been taught in the Church has looked past results. There’s little to no expectation of fruit. We’ve taken a minimalist approach to spreading the gospel. We can think things like Everyone’s heard the gospel already, right? Wrong! Or God isn’t really looking for results from His people, there’s grace, right? Or We don’t need to evaluate who we listen to, it’s pretty much all the same message, I can go to whatever church I want, right? Yes, many people those things, all which are untrue. Yes, a battle for the mind is taking place and strongholds of darkness have set over the minds of many as a result of false beliefs.
We have many voices. The Church has become very cliquey. Even in camps that have departed from main line denominations, we see tribalism developing. And what is being lost is an entire generation that doesn’t see the need for those things, is seeking truth and reality among the weeds of the Church, and longs for a true and real relationship with a living God. That’s why there’s such a hunger for the supernatural: people are looking for reality rooted in experiencing God. They want destinies to be defined and fulfilled not delayed, denied, or detoured by wrong choices. And what they seek are new voices speaking truth into a culture in decay. As Jesus said, “A large crop is in the fields, but there are only a few workers.” Matt. 9:37, CEV.
We need more men and women. We need more and better and newer voices. We need different voices to help us make better and different choices. We need to ask simple questions, receive simple answers, and experience the benefit of changing our approach to Christianity. Yes, we should look for results, expect God’s power, and demand more from ourselves. We should expect more and better and newer. The guard is changing. The time of new beginnings is at hand. Rise with victory in your eyes. Your time has come!
