Today, looking over the prophets and prophetic ministries in our midst, I am concerned. Why? You might say, are you concerned? I am concerned because of the absence of the power of life-altering prophetic words that are being ministered by today's prophets. Prophecy is powerful. It is a weapon in the hands of God Almighty designed to enable us to defeat a terrible enemy - the devil. We need this weapon.

God is looking to loose into the hands of His prophets the powerful weapon of the sword of genuine prophecy: prophecies that can alter the course of nations and convert generations.

Peter Marshall, Sr., a man anointed by God, ministered a prophetic message to this nation, prior to his death and America's devolution of today. What message did he minister to America? His message was simple: America needs a prophet like an Elijah!

America, and the world, needs prophets today. Strong men, burning bright with living character like that of Christ. Today's prophets must stop comparing themselves among themselves. We must look back to the prophets that preceded us. Prophets that abhorred and confronted sins, exposed corruption and were unabashedly unafraid to be a voice of one crying.

Peter Marshall, Sr. prayed that God would raise up prophets in America that were unafraid of dictatorial demagogues and political partisanship. Prophets who would have the ear of the nation. Prophets that would speak words from the throne of God to shape a nation and generations to come. I would like to believe that prophets that are in the making today are an answer to Dr. Marshall's prayers.

Like Gideon, God is calling His prophets from obscurity, from their place of hiding from the "ites" of our day.

When God first called Gideon, he was afraid, but willing to ask simple questions of the Lord: "Oh my Lord, if the Lord be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?"

Remembrance opens the door to truth. Gideon was calling God into remembrance of His works among his people, Israel. Gideon shaped a nation by calling that nation to remember its God. Today, God is calling hosts of emerging prophets to rise up and go in the power of His might to a generation consumed by lust, greed and corruption.

God is raising up prophets in different arenas and spheres to bring righteous authority back into an unrighteous nation. We are that generation of prophets who have been assigned the task of bringing back the word of the Lord to such a generation. But, we need not be afraid - God is with us. We must earnestly look into the faces of our adversaries and say, "thus far, and no more."

To to this, we must be willing to brandish the prophetic sword - the word of the Lord. Today, God is calling his prophetic Gideons to sound the trumpet and loose His prophetic armies to the nations. Like Gideon, our command is simple, to shout and cry "the sword of the Lord and of Gideon" to a lost generation. When we do, our enemies will kill themselves and flee.

Today, I want to encourage prophets to brandish their prophetic sword - loose it, sharpen it and demonstrate its power in a corrupt and depraved nation. We have come to the kingdom for such a time as this.

Now, is our time to rise up and demonstrate the greatness of our God. Get ready! Be prepared! And, most of   all, do not be moved from your mission. The time is short - brandish the prophetic sword.
