The Timings of the Lord
If there’s any area where more prophets miss it, it’s in relation to the timings of the Lord. Prophets can and do give the wrong word at the wrong time all the time. When that happens, they can pull people out of the timings of the Lord.
Prophets are to pull believers into the correct timings for their lives. When that happens, longstanding issues can and will be resolved. Sometimes, the reason we face the problems we face is we are in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong people.
The prophet is to move people into the right place at the right time to meet the right people for the fulfillment of destiny. To illustrate, as I began teaching on the timings of the Lord, it just so happened that I woke up one morning, ate breakfast with my wife, and briefly turned on the television. One of the shows that intrigued me was an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. The title of the episode? A Matter of Time. How often are fruitless endeavors can be changed by moving into the right timings of the Lord.
Most of the time, people feel lost in the sea of time; they are adrift in the middle of an ocean of time and feel lost in time. That’s not how life is meant to be lived. No, it can be different. How? The Apostle Paul gives us the answer in Ephesians 5:16, possibly one of the most important instructions he gives, which is, “[r]edeeming the time, because the days are evil.”
How do we redeem time? By learning how to make the most of every opportunity we are given. In the book of Ecclesiastes 9:11, King Solomon, as the preacher, says, “I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.”
Yes, you heard that correctly, the word “chance” is in the Bible. In a book of certainty, the Bible, lays the word “chance”. Wow! Does that surprise you? I know it surprised me when I saw it. Yes, God gives every man, woman, and child on planet earth a chance to live the life they dream of. How does that happen? By being at the right place at the right time.
Learning how to live in the timings of the Lord makes all the difference in the lives that we live. When we move into God’s timings for our lives, everything, and I do mean everything in our lives changes for the better. We move into the place called providence.
In the place called providence, nothing happens by chance. Our lives are directed by the hand of God. Don’t you want that? The scripture declares, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, And He delights in his way.” Ps. 37:23, NKJV. In Proverbs 16:3, NIV, we learn how to enter into that place of providence, “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”
Yes, God gives us a great deal of control over our ability to enter into His timings. By taking the simple steps offered us in scripture, we can get out of our bad times and get into God’s good times for our lives. Good times? Yes, isn’t that what it says in Jeremiah 29:11, NIV, “ ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ “
Yes, that is God’s will. How do we enter God’s will? By moving into His timings. Isn’t that what scripture teaches, “He hath made every thing beautiful in his time”. Eccl. 3:11. Yes, in His timings, everything works out well. In our timing, not so much. That’s why we, as believers, need to learn how to enter the timings of the Lord.
I suggest that you make it your priority to enter into the timings of the Lord. How? By doing what He said. Additionally, the Apostle Paul gives each of us the keys to our next season In Galatians 6:6, “Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.”
As we give to those who teach us the Word of God, we are pulled into our right season. In fact, your current season is being determined by your past giving. What you give determines where you go. It’s that simple. And many believers, rather than learning how to receive the blessing of the offering, kick at it. They do that for failing to understand God’s purpose for the offering, which is our benefit.
Moving into the correct timings of the Lord is a choice we make. God offers us a chance today to change directions, to receive course corrections, to move into providence, to move to a better place, a better season, a better life by learning His design for all things in our lives. Remember, it’s in His timings that all things are made beautiful and not our own timing.
Get out of your timing and get into the timings of the Lord! It will make all the difference in your life.
