I believe there is an absence of prophetic fathers in the prophetic movement today. That has resulted in adherence to error, lack of humility, and propensity towards selfish greed. The prophetic movement has been mired with Balaams, Jezebels, Jannes and Jambres style prophets and prophetesses. From that God's people have come to prophets while idols are in their hearts. The idols in our hearts are self promotion, self adulation and self satisfaction. We want words that confirm how great we are.

But genuine prophecy is not designed to show how great we are. Rather, it is designed to show how great He is. True prophecies draw us closer to God. False prophecies push us away from God. False prophecies cause us to move toward self reliance. It becomes about what we can do. That is what happened in Isaiah's day:

For Jerusalem has stumbled and Judah has fallen, Because their speech and their actions are against the LORD, To rebel against His glorious presence. Is. 3:8, NASB.

Like today, Israel tried to use God to get what they wanted. It became all about them. Even the great prophet Isaiah stumbled into God's people's sin:  "Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!" Is. 6:5, ESV. Isaiah realized his condition: he was just as lost as the people. That is a terrible place for a prophet, a guide for God's people, to be in - lost. But he was.

So too are prophets today. We are lost. We don't know the difference between the true word of the lord and the false. Selfish ambition controls much of what happens in the prophetic movement. We have had far too many prophecies that flatter us. Those words have caused us to become fatter and fatter. Doesn't that describe us? Like pigs in slop, we have been fed to the full with false prophecies from false guides in the prophetic. Isaiah describes us:

We grope for a wall like the blind, We grope like those who have no eyes. We stumble at midday as in the twilight; Among those who are healthy we are like dead men. Is. 59:10, Amplified Bible.

When writing to the Corinthians, the Apostle Paul confronted the Corinthians about what they lacked, saying, "You may have 10,000 mentors who work for the Messiah, but not many fathers. For in the Messiah Jesus I became your father through the gospel." 1 Cor. 4:15, ISV. That is what the prophetic movement lacks today - prophetic fathers and mothers. Why is this? Because many prophetic fathers and mothers have transitioned. And their absence is clearly felt.

But I have good news. An emerging generation of prophetic fathers and mothers is arising. Every void must be filled. An absence of prophetic fathers and mothers in the prophetic movement must be filled by an emerging generation of fathers and mothers. With that void, comes an opportunity for prophetic fathers and mothers to arise. God will not leave that void empty. Why is this? Because prophets are an essential part of God's plan.

Indeed, the Sovereign LORD never does anything until he reveals his plans to his servants the prophets. Amos. 3:7, NLT.

Contrary to many false teachings in the Church that deny God still speaks through His prophets today, the Bible teaches God has never stopped speaking to and through His prophets prior to doing anything He has done, is doing, or will do. Yes, God still speaks. Yes, God has prophets He speaks to in every generation. Yes, God is speaking to His prophets today. And there is a promise to those who listen to His prophets:

Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the LORD your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful. 2 Chr. 20:20, NIV.

That faith in God's prophets has wained due to the myriad of false prophecies given. People's faith in God's prophets and prophecy has been tried and tested. That is a good thing. The Apostle Paul said to the Corinthians, "For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you." 1 Cor. 11:19, ERV. The Apostle Paul accepted the Biblical reality that amidst falseness, the real manifests.

Amist the false prophecies in 2020, will arise true prophetic fathers and mothers in 2021. In 2022, God will cause His emerging prophetic fathers and mothers to arise and lead God's prophets into new places and graces in the coming decades. What God's prophets have experienced in the past will be as nothing compared to what they will experience in the future. New dimensions and new realms of the prophetic office and ministry will open as God sweeps away the remainder of that which is false in 2021.
