An Awakened Heart

We are living in a time when it’s easy to let our hearts become hardened. I hear so many complaining about so much. Yet I see so little being done to remedy that which is happening. And I recognize what’s taking place. It’s an attack by the enemy of our soul on our hearts. It’s his attempt to cause us, those who believe in Christ, to harden our hearts to the sea of hurting humanity.
We must not give in to the incessant drumbeats of despair being promoted by hell. We must not let hell harden our hearts or dull our senses to the reality of that which is not seen. Or further, steal from us the promise of the life to come. No, we must make sure that we have an awakened heart to Christ for those times in which live.
Candidly, we are facing an onslaught unseen by any prior generation. The flood of filth that pervades our airwaves is a sign of the times. The propagation of pornography. The pandemic of perversion. The hidden in plain sight plight of the poor. All point to a spiritual battle taking place in our daily lives, which is designed to rob us of an awakened heart.
What will we do to survive, even thrive, in times like these? We must redouble our efforts to hold fast to what we believe. We must dig deeper into the very foundations of our faith. We must be rooted and grounded in Christ. Not ignorant of our culture. But armed with an awakened heart that’s adequate to meet that great spiritual battle with supernatural grace from another realm.
How do we awaken our hearts to God’s workings in our midst? How do we see what He’s doing? That’s what we should be looking for. And yes, God’s working in our day. The issue we face is severe: we “are living among rebellious people. They have eyes, but they see nothing; they have ears, but they hear nothing, because they are rebellious.” Ezek. 12:2, Good News Translation.
Yes, that rebellion on our streets, in our homes, and working to harden our hearts is a sign of the times; it’s a sign of the spirit of witchcraft that’s plaguing our nation. We must break the spell of that spirit in and over our land that’s rooted in rebellion. But how can we? We have rebellion in our hearts. We haven’t been willing to cleanse our hearts from evil. In truth, we need “our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water.” Heb. 10:22, HCSB.
What say you? Are you ready to be washed in the precious blood of the Lamb? Do we not need a bath from the filth we daily face? I know I do. The soul creep of satanic deception has sought to rob us of our most sacred possession — an awakened heart. That, and that alone, is the root source of those issues that we face in our day.
The “wokeness” we are experiencing in our nation is a larger sign that’s pointing to our desperate need for an awakened heart. We are at a breaking point. The silenced heart is seeking to emerge from it’s period of hibernation. That’s the battle taking place today in our hearts: it’s the battle between the silenced heart and an awakened heart. The question: Will we remain silent? Or will we be awakened?
The answer to those questions will determine what happens in coming generation. I believe the coming generation is seeking for men of God to stand forth and be men. Real men, godly men, not addicted or weak men, are needed for the day in which we live: Warriors of the heart and soul. Men who will “Cry aloud! Don’t spare!” Real men who will “Lift up [their] voice like a trumpet! Declare to my people their disobedience, and to the house of Jacob their sins.” Is. 58:1, World English Bible.
Yes, the call to repentance is needed; it’s how hearts caught in desperate silence are loosed from their cell and brought into the light of an awakened heart. The call to repentance is the personal call to take charge of your life; it’s the call to accept responsibility for both one’s actions and life’s outcomes. It’s the recognition that, as Harry S Truman understood and metaphorically stated, “the buck stops here”.
Passing the buck and passing personal responsibility to someone else is the primary reason we are where we are — living in the land of delusion and debt. We live in a nation that is plagued by debt. That debt is and has robbed us of our identity. We’ve taken upon ourselves the mentality of the slave. We’ve become slaves to a deluded and deceived heart. And the only way out of that satanic bondage is an awakened heart of the acceptance of personal responsibility and accountability. That’s what we need in our day! We desperately need the gift of an awakened heart.
