The Apostles Are Coming!

Recently, I posted what Jesus said in Luke 11:49, KJV, “Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute”. Yes, Jesus said, “Behold, I will send you apostles”. So, apostles must be an important part of Christ’s kingdom purpose on earth if Jesus said specifically He would send them. After that post, I posted another post about The Coming Apostolic Revolution. In that post, I described how there will be a revolution in the Church and outside the Church. That this New Apostolic Revolution (NAR) will radically redefine the Church, why it’s necessary, and the apostles who will bring it about. In this post, I am sounding the alarm, The Apostles Are Coming! The Apostles Are Coming!

This announcement takes into consideration the apostles we’ve had operating in the Church. What it means is a completely different type of apostle is arising — one we haven’t seen before. The apostles God is going to cause to appear, as it were out of nowhere, will demonstrate two key characteristics — humility and power. I point to the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:21, KJV, “when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed.” I chose this specific translation because of the term — bewail.

What does bewail mean? Bewail means to lament, mourn, and bemoan; it means “to wail over” and “to express deep sorrow for usually by wailing and lamentation”. In other words, when the Apostle Paul said God would humble him and cause him to bewail many which have sinned, it was literally God putting the Apostle Paul on display as an expression of His sorrow and grief over their sin. I can literally see the Apostle Paul weeping and wailing while he was with the Corinthians. And what will usually happen when one person around us starts to weep and wail, it’s contagious; others will start to cry, weep, and wail too.

Yes, that’s right. The Apostle Paul describes God humbling him, but not in the way we might think; rather, it’s the Apostle Paul weeping and wailing while amongst the Corinthian church. And it was such a difficult thing for everyone present that he reminded them of what happened last time. You know it’s bad when their daddy apostle has to remind of what happened before. Further, and the truth is much deeper than we might think at first glance. What the Apostle Paul was saying is that when God humbled him this way, tremendous unadulterated power was present. That power caused the Corinthian believers to gain a fear of the Lord they had never known, a fear that truly made them afraid of sinning against God.

“What false apostles do doesn’t work. Their faith is in vain.”—Scott Wallis

We need that same fear in the Church today. Listen to how the early Church is described in the book of the Acts of the Apostles after the Apostle Peter confronted Ananias and Sapphira about their sin of lying to the Holy Spirit, “great fear seized the whole church and everyone else who heard about this.” Acts 5:11, ISV. Notice, “great fear seized the whole church”. That’s what happens when real Apostles come, entire churches are cleaned up and made presentable to God. In Galatians 2:11, KJV, the Apostle Paul confronted the Apostle Peter, “I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.” Yes, the Apostle Paul also confronted false apostles, saying, “These people are false apostles. They are deceitful workers who disguise themselves as apostles of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 11:13, NLT.

Apostles don’t operate out of fear. They operate from faith. In a prior post, I talked about this. There’s a special category of faith given to apostles enabling them to accomplish the apostolic work they’re called to do. Every apostle is given this special type of faith, an apostolic faith, to enable to function as apostles. That’s how we discern true apostles from false apostles. True apostles have an apostolic faith that enables them to fulfill their divine mission. That faith produces real results that can be seen. That’s why the Apostle Paul said, “I certainly gave you proof that I am an apostle. For I patiently did many signs and wonders and miracles among you.” 2 Corinthians 12:12, NLT. Real apostles have proof of their faith, they don’t just have professions of faith.

“The proof of the pudding is in the eating” is a phrase I grew up hearing. What it means is, if it’s real, you can really eat it. In other words, the true thing can be discerned from that which is false by our ability to partake of it. No wonder the Apostle Jude, the physical brother of Jesus, called the false teachers in the Church, “clouds without water, driven away by the winds; trees that cast their fruit, barren, doubly dead, uprooted”. Jude 1:12, Weymouth New Testament. What false apostles do doesn’t work. Their faith is in vain. What they teach produces barrenness not the blessings of fruitfulness. And that’s what we have today: false teachers, false prophets, and yes, false apostles whose acts don’t match the faith they claim to have. Apostolic vision without apostolic faith is fruitless, barren, and void.

Yes, a clear distinction will be made. Yes, God still has his prophets. And yes, He still has apostles. And God is saying to us, Christ is saying to us, “Behold, I send you apostles.” Luke 11:49. The apostles are coming! The apostles are coming! I am prophetically announcing their coming. Again, the apostles who are coming, those being sent by Christ are different from the apostles we’ve had, the apostles we’ve known, those we’ve understood to be apostles by their building of ministries, networks, and churches. The apostles who are coming will be known for God’s power that they demonstrate, manifestation after manifestation of miracle after miracle. In fact, many will think we are in the book of Acts again. It will be said of them, they completely changed the Church.

Let it be so! Yes, the apostles are coming. So, get ready! The announcement has been made, the decree has come forth, the proclamation has made, and the time is now. The apostles are released to you, Church. And I warn you, they are coming. Yes, and it will be different. Many will say, I have heard of you, but now, I see you with my eyes, and they shall weep and tremble and fear the name of the Lord, for from the rising of the sun to the going down of the same, My name shall be great and proclaimed throughout all the earth, says the Lord. For I do open the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing, I give you apostles. And yes, some of them you will persecute and slay, as I said in My Word, for behold, I pour out My Spirit over My Church throughout all the earth and declare that change is coming to you. Let your chains of religion be broken, says the Lord, and arise from your place of brokenness into wholeness, for the fullness of the time has come.

The apostles are coming!

Let us pray!
