There’s a coming war over apostles and apostolic ministry. That war will be a war of words, thoughts, and ideas. The enemy will seek to subvert the revelations apostles seek to bring to the Church. Although the scriptures don’t change, the Church’s revelation and understanding of the scriptures can and does change. For example, much of what the Church believed was lost during the Dark Ages. In that period, the Church stopped being taught what scripture said and heresies set in — foolish beliefs without any scriptural basis. The printing press changed that and brought about the Age of Enlightenment. The Bible became an item families cherished, read, and studied. Revelation came to every household of God’s will through God’s word.
Today, we sit at a similar precipice in history of change. With the advent of artificial intelligence (AI), the introduction of social media, and a wide swath of quasi-scriptural teachings and truths, information may very well become our greatest adversary. Too much information can be just as dangerous, if not more dangerous, than too little information. And if information replaces revelation (which is beyond what information can bring), then darkness will invade the Church once again. The difference: our Information Age will produce a famine. The Biblical prophet Amos prophesied, “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD”. Amos 8:11, KJV.
Into that fray will enter apostles. Apostles are rich with apostolic revelation. Specifically, the revelation of Jesus Christ, His cross, His kingdom, and His Word. They, like prophets, are equipped with the Spirit of supernatural wisdom and revelation of Christ, His purposes and His plans. Yet, apostles activate and motivate action. To apostles, faith isn’t only about beliefs; rather, it’s about action, not just man’s action, but God’s acts. That which we call the book of Acts is actually identified as The Acts of The Apostles. Acts not only words, as in supernatural acts of the Holy Spirit.
“God is allowing this warfare to expose the apostate church.”— Scott Wallis
The Church, through its upgrade in the coming apostolic revolution, will gain a new mind — the mind of Christ. Apostles will release the mind of Christ to the Church through apostolic revelation. That revelation will come to them due to their closeness to Christ. Jesus Himself will appoint those apostles He’s raising up. Not after the old order that is, but the new order He’s creating in His Church. That new order of apostle, which will be different from those prior apostles who have been leaders in Christ’s Church, will radically redefine the Church. When, and to the degree, that happens, the apostolic war will begin. The old Saul order will hunt down, pursue, and seek to kill the new Davidic order.
That apostolic war will be without the Church and within the Church. God is allowing this warfare to expose the apostate church. The apostate church will become increasingly unhinged from reality, and will introduce even more harmful doctrines and ideas into the Church than have already been introduced. God will allow those heresies so His approved apostles can be revealed, not in word only, but power. That will be the key characteristic of the apostles God is raising up and will establish. And God will distinguish true apostles by their humility and false apostles through their pride. Those two things will be the distinguishing marks of true and false apostles.
The primary weapon Satan will use to attack true apostles and aid false apostles is the sword of slander. Slanderous accusations will be leveled against true apostles and false praise (flattery) will be lavished on false apostles. The Apostles Paul himself dealt with that spirit of slander. In Romans 3:8, God’s Word Translation, he reveals what was spoken about him for the purpose of denying his apostolic authority: “‘Let's do evil so that good will come from it’? Some slander us and claim that this is what we say. They are condemned, and that's what they deserve.” Notice, the spirit of slander accuses the Apostle Paul for the purpose of frustrating his ministry to the Church at Rome.
In this war on apostles, slander and accusations will be the enemy’s primary weapons. Why will he use those weapons? Because they can effectively turn people’s hearts away from true apostles and toward false apostles. In this season, we must guard our hearts from the spirit of slander and accusation. If not, we can easily find ourselves aligned with the wrong side in this war. And it will not be pretty for those who choose that path. Some, like Judas, may find it would have been better for them to not have been born. That’s why we must follow the wisdom of the Apostle Peter: “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8, ESV.
What can we do to not miss the apostolic move of God being released and the apostolic revolution that’s coming? Stay humble. Be sober. Beware of slander and accusation. Watch your own heart. Remember humility. Guard against pride, including false humility. And look for God’s power at work in the lives of true apostles. Expect it. That is a key characteristic and distinguishing marks of the apostles who are emerging at this time in history. And don’t get caught in the crossfire! Instead, choose to cling to the cross. And pray!
Let us pray!
