The Coming Apostolic Revolution

There’s a shift coming to the apostolic ministry. Yes, the apostolic ministry is about to be invigorated and changed on a level not seen before. Thus far, our understanding of the apostle and apostolic ministry has been quite limited. That is about to change. Our eyes will be opened as to what it means to be an apostle. For the most part, apostles have been identified as missionaries or sent ones. But apostles aren’t the only ones who are sent, for Jesus says He also sends prophets. Luke 11:49. So being an apostle must be more than that. And it is. What does it mean to be an apostle and how will the coming apostolic revolution change the Church. That’s what I’d like to talk about in this post.

To this point, the Church has had very limited exposure to the apostle and apostolic ministry. That has been by God’s design. In the 1990s, the apostle was released in a wave of revelation coming to the Church, which I prophesied about in my book, Decade of Destiny.

Written: Scott Wallis

Over 35 years ago, I prophesied about the rise of the apostle and apostolic ministry, how that ministry would take shape in the Church, and the types of apostles being released: “Laborers of Love, Loveslaves of the Lord, and Fathers of the Faith”. I also said that there was a certain type of apostle being released in the 1990s — reaping apostles and gathering  apostles.

Yes, reaping apostles and gathering apostles. And right there, we have a revelation of the types of apostles being revealed. Further, I said that normally apostles are sowing apostles. And right there, was a revelation of a different type of apostle than that of the reaping apostle or gathering apostle. But I was giving description of what apostles would look like in the coming times and seasons ahead, which I prophesied would happen: A Season of Harvest and Time of Gathering in the 1990s, A Season of Winter and Time of War in the 2000s, A Season of Spring and Time to Sow in the 2010s, and A Season of Summer and Time of Persecution in the 2020s.

In those seasons, which the Father set of His own accord, certain apostles would be released to aid the Church during those seasons and times. Yet, that didn’t means apostles or apostolic ministry would be defined solely by the functions for which they were being released. Rather, our understanding of who apostles are and what apostolic ministry was (and still is) quite limited. We know a little bit about the apostle and apostolic ministry, but we think we know more than we actually do. And that makes us quite dangerous — a little knowledge, a lot of ignorance, and a mix of pride.

“There’s an absence of authority in the Church. That void is being filled by man’s opinion rather than Biblical truth.”—Scott Wallis

I suggest we broach the subject of apostles and apostolic ministry with humility. That our goal not be the promotion of our own ministry, but discernment of what true apostles look like, how apostles operate, what our expectations of apostles should be, and how we verify the claims of those who say they are apostles. And yes, we should verify those claims. Jesus commended the Church in Ephesus in the book of Revelation for testing the claims of apostles (so called), discovering that their claims were false, and calling them liars. Jesus Himself calls those falsely claiming to be apostles “evil” and “wicked”. And we should do the same.

Nevertheless, Jesus plainly states in Luke 11:49, “I will send them prophets and apostles”. So Christ in His sovereign wisdom has already decided to send both apostles and prophets. As such, we should be ready to receive them. Yes, it’s incumbent on us to receive them. Receiving apostles and prophets doesn’t happen by accident. No, it happens by choice. We choose to receive or reject who Christ sends, as the Jewish people did. They rejected the Messiah, and they rejected the ones the Messiah sent. That’s a warning to us. Remember, I said we need to broach this subject with humility. We must respect and honor who Christ sends and we should reject and despise those He hasn’t sent to us. We need true apostles and genuine apostolic ministry.

What will the coming apostolic revolution look like? Honestly, I don’t fully have words to describe it. Why am I not able to express it? Because it’s something that we’ve never experienced before. We haven’t really seen the apostle or apostolic up close and personal to this point. Yes, we see glimpses of it in scripture. But it’s one thing to read about it in the scripture and it’s another thing to actually walk in it with a real apostle and apostolic leader. So, I will do my best to convey what this coming apostolic revolution will look like.

RADICAL CHANGE:  The Church will undergo radical change. That means the Church will become unrecognizable according to today’s standards. That doesn’t mean it won’t be known. But we are about to experience a radical shift in our experiential relationship with Christ. Christ is coming to build His Church. And He will use apostles to do that. Apostles aren’t hypothetical or theoretical individuals. No! They are part of the greater plan of God. They are part of the foundation of the Church.

When today’s apostles start walking and living like that, tremendous power and authority will be given to them, for Christ is still the head of His Church and King over all nations.
SIGNIFICANT AUTHORITY:  Today’s Church is lawless. There’s an absence of authority in the Church. That void is being filled by man’s opinion rather than Biblical truth. We can’t only be against something. We must know what we are for, who we are for, and whose we are for. The Apostles in scripture understood that truth: “in Him we live and move and have our being.” Acts 17:28, Berean Standard Bible.

BIBLICAL REALITY:  Much of the Church considers the Bible a side item to the more important things taking place in the

Church — worship being one of them, children’s church being another, and who can forget the food feasts we call potlucks (it’s our new way of leading people to Jesus, right?). Where is the Bible? What about prayer?

The back row of the Church meant mostly for the faithful few members who practice what is being preached. Instead of Biblical Reality being experienced in our church services, most of what happens is non biblical. The coming apostolic revolution will change that. Bible days will be back!

APOSTOLIC REVELATION:  The scripture is chock full of revelation. That revelation is waiting to be unlocked within the Church. The Church is meant to be the greatest place of revelation in the world. But we’ve lacked scriptural revelation. In fact, we’ve merely scratched the surface of what’s revealed in the Bible. Without apostles and prophets, especially true apostles, we lack the revelation of Christ, His cross, and His Word. That’s why the foundation of the Church is weak and crumbling — the absence of apostolic revelation.

THE UNITY OF THE SPIRIT:  Lastly, there’s a place of unity the Church has not reached…ever…that it’s designed and destined to reach — the unity of the Spirit.  Ephesians. 4:3. Few truly understand the unity of the Spirit. Fewer still have actually experienced. And rarely are leaders able to establish it amongst believers. Many, if not most, of what we deal with in life would be resolved if the Church came together in the unity of the Spirit. Notice, I said the unity of the Spirit not the unity of the faith(or doctrine). Ephesians 4:13. There is a BIG difference between the two. Knowing the difference enables us to experience the blessings both bring. Apostles know how to experientially establish that unity in the Church.

Apostles bring the experiential reality of Christ’s kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. That’s their call and commission. A new era of apostles is arising. Amidst that new era of apostles an apostolic revolution will take place. First, in understanding the apostolic calling. Then, in the full manifestation of that calling through their lives and ministries on earth, as Christ’s kingdom is established and His royal dominion spreads throughout the earth. Like I said, The Coming Apostolic Revolution is about to happen. Therefore, rejoice O Church! Hallelujah!

Let us pray!
