In my last post, I discussed the Seed of the Word of God. Jesus plainly states, the Seed is the Word of God in Luke 8:11, NKJV. That parable, according to Jesus, has special status among all of His parables, for it’s the key to unlocking the other parables and the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. So, in Jesus’s parables of the Sower, which is different in each of the three Gospels where it’s recorded, a wealth of revelation is available concerning how things in our world and in God’s Kingdom actually work. That’s what I’d like to talk about in this post.
The Kingdom of God is a kingdom of power. The Apostle Paul states this truth in 1 Corinthians 4:20, KJV, “the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.” Yet the Seed of that Kingdom is the Word of God. And right here, we are given a significant truth regarding God’s Kingdom — everything begins by and through His Word. All creation bends to God’s Word. God’s Word is the foundation for everything and everything is subject to it. That subjugation is foundational to our understanding of this world. Heaven itself bends to God’s Word. The angels, according to scripture, hearken to the voice of His Word. The Word of God is powerful.
Yes, God’s Word breaks things apart that have been in place for years. Racism, injustice, slavery, idolatry, greed, yes, every evil thing will break because of and as God’s Word is spoken and understood. God’s Word breaks down evil things. That’s how we can be assured the evils in our day will fall. Drug addiction, porn addiction, demonization, divorce, fornication, drunkenness, and other evils can and will be broken by the power of God’s Word. That’s why we must do what the Apostle Paul said, “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.” 2 Timothy 4:2, KJV. But first, we must read, know, study, and meditate on God’s Word to discover and discern the truth in His Word.
Here, we see the connection of truth and power. In God’s Word, the closer we get to God’s truth, the greater dimensions of the power of His Word is opened to us. To unlock the power of God’s Word, we must seek its truth. Within the realm of God’s truth, we find His power. That’s why we have not seen the power of His Word activated in our lives — we have failed to discern the truth in His Word. Yet the Apostle Paul teaches us to “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15, KJV. In studying God’s Word and seeking the truth of His Word, we find the central figure of His Word — Jesus — the ultimate Word of God, the ultimate Truth of God, and the fullness of God’s Power.
One of my favorite scriptures is Hebrews 1:3, Berean Standard Bible, “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His nature, upholding all things by His powerful word.” Here, we see the entire universe is upheld by the power that’s inherent in God’s Word. No wonder the Psalmist said, “Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion. It cannot be moved; it abides forever.” Psalm 125:1, Berean Standard Bible. The Word of God is the unshakable foundation of everything; it upholds everything, and without His Word, it would cease to exist. We must realize the true source of all things — God’s Word. No, the universe didn’t come together by accident. Nor was it there prior to God’s Word. To believe such a lie is foolish. God’s Word is the very beginning and foundation of everything.
“The Word of God is the Seed and Source of all things”. —Scott Wallis
Today, we must return to the source of life — God’s Word. What we think we know is incomplete. The secrets we desire to find are hidden within God’s Word. God’s mysteries are revealed to those who study, learn, meditate, and rightly divide God’s incorruptible Word. That’s right! God’s Word is incorruptible, undefiled, and unadulterated. We, as believers, are born again by that Word. We read in 1 Peter 1:23, KJV. “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” The Word of God is the Seed and Source of all things, visible and invisible. It’s eternal and will remain forever.
As the Psalmist said, “Show your power, O God, the power you have used on our behalf”. Psalms 68:28, Good News Translation. Why did the Psalmist cry out for God to show His power? “Your people will offer themselves freely on the day of your power, in holy garments; from the womb of the morning, the dew of your youth will be yours.” Psalms 110:3, ESV. Now is the time to cry out for God’s power to be shown and His Word to be made known. Let us therefore lift our voice to Him as His Church, His people, and call on Him until His power appears from on high by and through the power of His Word and His voice in His Church once again.
Lord, you send out your mighty voice and what a voice it is to your people. May we hear Him again! Amen.
Let us pray!
