A Nation of Rights Without Wrongs

Currently, America is becoming a nation of many and varied rights. Some might say, What’s wrong with that? Plenty. A nation full of so many and varied rights for so much that has no wrongs has no boundaries or borders. And that describes America — a borderless, boundary-less nation without a conscience or moral compass. A compass, by the way, that’s broken; it cannot discern right from wrong. A nation that cannot determine right from wrong is truly lost and has lost its way. That’s what I’d like to talk about in this blog post.
Has America really lost its way? Yes, but not all. Some still cling to their conscience, morality — the idea that good and evil exist. Others don’t believe in anything. Still others call evil good and good evil. And the battle between them is currently being fought in our lifetime, right now, before our very eyes. My question: Will we participate in this fight? Or will we ignore this battle, look away, and hope for a better, brighter day?

WASHINGTON, D.C. — With debate ongoing over the Republican-proposed SAVE Act to shore up U.S. election integrity, Democrat lawmakers countered by proposing their own legislation, the STEAL Act, to ban voter ID in elections. (Feb 13, 2026)

My belief: The Church must take a stand in this battle. Further, if the Church tries to remain neutral in this struggle, America can and will be lost. The tides of evil are seeking to sweep our nation into oblivion and obscurity. And the currents against us remaining a strong, vibrant nation are strong, and rip tides, as well as other nations, are trying to pull America apart. As Abraham Lincoln so eloquently quoted Jesus Christ, a house divided against itself shall not stand. Mark 3:25.
But division is only part of Satan’s plan to destroy America. Yes, he, and other nations, are seeking to divide us. America’s strength isn’t primarily in her economy, as so many people think. Rather, her real strength is in the unity of the American people. And that’s what Satan, as well as other nations fear, a united America. The strength of unity and our stand against evil is what brought America to the place of greatness. And it’s what will keep America great. In fact, many of the voices talking about American greatness miss this very important point. We, as the Church, can remind America of who she is called to be, if we dispel the darkness in our own hearts — rebellion.
Much of the talk of civil rights is rooted in rebellion that is buttressed by the spirit of witchcraft. In reality, talk of civil rights is subterfuge for wrongs to be done in the name of civil rights. But in a nation that is unable to discern right from wrong and good from evil, no wrong is too wrong and no evil is too evil. And that’s what’s happening in our nation right now, the established boundaries of right and wrong, good and evil, are being moved. In other words, the goalposts are being moved, decency being changed, and lives being upended by what is taking place.
That’s what has divided America; it’s the introduction of different standards; oftentimes, double standards are what is being presented. And when those double standards are called out, Americans are gaslit into believing something untrue — the standards have or are being moved. That’s not how America worked in the past for most Americans. Despite our history of slavery, and the division that entered into America through slavery and racism, America has become a place where one standard exists. Until recently, that was acknowledged. Now, it’s disputed. Nevertheless, prior to this current division, America was one people, a predominantly moral and generous people.
How has America become so divided? False narratives have been sown in America. Men and women have used those false narratives to rob, steal, and loot the American people. False narratives have been and are being used as a means to gain wealth and power over other Americans. Stirring up anger and hatred has become big business. From race baiting to tribalism to class warfare to religious fanaticism to political extremism to climate zealots and on and on to the next cause. And wars and rumors of war abound and will abound, as Jesus said. Matthew 24:6.
America and Americans must make a choice. Like ancient Israel, we stand between two opinions. Those two opinions oppose each. One opinion will win, the other will lose. The choice we make now will decide what takes place in America’s future. If America continues on its current path, it will be destroyed. By God? No! By our own choices. What will it take to preserve America? Prayer. Much prayer. As one minister has said, history belongs to the intercessor. What should intercessors pray for regarding America and the American people? For America to recover its lost sense of good sense.
That’s right! We’ve lost our good sense. We no longer seem to have common sense. Common sense is a Biblical wisdom. That kind of wisdom is among the seven pillars of wisdom identified in the book of Proverbs. The Hebrew word for that kind of wisdom is “chokmah”. Chokmah wisdom sees cause and effect. Like the mother seeing the possibility of her child roving into the street or touching the burning stove, chokmah foresees what will happen if a certain action is taken. America, at one time, had this kind of common sense, cause and effect wisdom. Yet, in our current culture, that kind of wisdom has been viewed as obsolete, a relic from the past. It’s not. America needs its common sense restored.
Yes, there is still right and wrong. And doing the wrong always comes with consequences. Always. Why? God set things in order a certain way. Violating His way leads to consequences in the here and now, not only in the hereafter. Yes, there are very real consequences for the wrongs we do. Those consequences can and do follow us around. And if we want to be delivered from the consequences, we must do things in accordance with God’s ways. No other option exists. For forgiveness of sin, Jesus is the only way. For redemption from sin, Jesus is the only way. Jesus is, was, and always will be God’s standard for righteousness. He’s always right. And anything contrary to Him is always wrong.
At one point in America’s history, most Americans knew that, even if they hadn’t accepted Christ’s lordship in their lives. They saw God’s natural order, His natural laws. Today, we ignore His natural order, to our own hurt, I might add. As Jesus said to the Apostle Paul, “It is hard for you to kick [repeatedly] against the goads [offering pointless resistance].” Acts 26:14, Amplified Bible. The way we’ve been walking is hard. The question is: Have we had enough?! I’m not so sure. Some people, especially those who are stubborn, like to beat their heads against the wall, kicking against the goads, causing their own pain.
Stubbornness is as idolatry, the idolatry of opinion. And I think that’s the primary idol America is wrestling with — our own opinion. Yes, lots of opinions, and it seems everyone has one they’re willing to offer. But our opinion, when it meets God’s thoughts, is shown false, reprobate, and foolish. America, recover your wisdom, recognize the error of your ways, turn to God with your whole heart, and recover yourself from your own opinion by seeking God’s wisdom. Otherwise, you will continue to be muddled between two thoughts and ways — your opinion versus God’s Word — and we will all lose, due to our failure to recognize right from wrong.
Let us pray!
