This past year has been a difficult one for me, as I have struggled through physical issues for most of the year. That was a first for me. It was a spiritual attack. You can always tell something is an attack when it happens at several places within a short time frame. By God’s grace, I have overcome. By His grace, I will continue to overcome. I believe God’s Word. And I believe in miracles. Now, having gone through this period, I am keenly aware of my need and the Church’s need for healing ministries. We need to have healing as we live in this world. Yes, churches and believers need a time of healing, especially after going through the pandemic we experienced. I’d like to talk about that in this post.
My good friend, Jeff Ferguson, recently made this statement: the older you get the more you need to see Jesus’s back. Why? Because His back contains the stripes by which we are healed. As we get older, we face more risk of getting sick, succumbing to disease, losing our facilities, and having other physical ailments, mild or severe. Yes, it’s to those who are getting older that I’m speaking, being one who is now older, we need healing. Yes, America needs a time of healing, health, restoration, and reinvigoration. And that time has come.
In Jeremiah 30:17, NLT, God says, “I will give you back your health and heal your wounds,” says the LORD.” In the King James Version, it says, “I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD”. God cares about us when we go through times of sickness and disease. As our bodies breakdown because of sin, the Lord promises us, “I am the LORD who heals you.” Exod. 15:26, NLT. Isn’t that comforting? Yes, that’s the good news that we’ve been given: Our God is a healer. Jesus heals; He doesn’t only save from sins.
Jesus’s sacrifice hit the root of mankind’s issue — sin. Sin has been our issue since we bit into the forbidden fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. We?, you might ask. Yes, we. You are I through our parents, Adam and Eve, were there. How so? Simple. We were in them when they sinned. God, speaking through the prophet Isaiah, said, “Your first father sinned, and your spokesmen rebelled against Me.” Is. 43:27, Berean Standard Bible. Notice, God says, “your father”. That right there describes the brotherhood of ALL mankind. Yes, we, ALL mankind, are brothers and sisters, despite our differences in color, race, culture, and tribe.
Isn’t it time for there to be a healing between the races? What about healing between the genders? What about the nations? Yes, we need a time of healing. God is able to bring the healing we need. During this time of healing, we must ask, seek, and knock on the door of healing amongst the races, genders, nations, cultures, and tribes. Our God is a healer. That is His name: I Am the Lord who heals you. Jesus’s very name demonstrates God wants to heal us, for healing is included in salvation. Jesus saves! And Jesus heals! We’ve only preached half salvation’s message — Jesus saves! Now, we need to preach the other half — Jesus heals!
How many does God intend to heal? ALL. How many does God want to heal? ALL. What’s hindering Him from healing ALL? The same thing that hindered Him when He was on earth. “He could not do a miracle there at all [because of their unbelief] except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.” Mk. 6:5, Amplified Bible. But we don’t like that answer, do we? No, we don’t. The truth hurts. God has and is being hindered by our unbelief. And rather than asking the question: How can we overcome our unbelief? We try to dissuade ourselves of facing the reality of our situation and taking responsibility for it. Still, the truth remains — God is a healer.
Yes, we have a healer in our family. God the Father and God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Whether you believe in the trinity or not doesn’t change the truth — God is a healer. Healing belongs to the believer. The Church has been authorized to heal. God is calling His Church to arise with the message of healing. Yes, now is a time for healing. Now is the time to preach healing. Now is the time to demonstrate healing. Now is the time to believe in healing. As the Apostle Paul said, “For God says, ‘At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.’ Indeed, the ‘right time’ is now. Today is the day of salvation.” 2 Cor. 6:2, NLT.
Despite what you may have heard, healing is for today. The message of healing is as relevant today as it was 2,000 years ago. Humanity still needs the healer. Jesus is that healer. And now is the right time. Now is the right moment. People are searching for the truth. They are searching for reality. In a sin soaked, sin sick world, the message of healing is a vital reality. If now is the right time, and if healing is the right message, what do we lack? We lack the experienced preachers who preach, practice and demonstrate healing. Not just bringing the revelation knowledge of healing through preaching, but the practical demonstration of healing through the prayer of faith.
Healing must be preached, it must be practiced, and it must be demonstrated. The prayer of faith still works. As the Apostle James said, “the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.” James 5:15. No equivocation! No explanation! No excuses! Plain unadulterated truth from a true apostle who practiced what he preached. And that’s what we need — plain unadulterated truth that works, that brings healing, that releases forgiveness. That’s our message — healing. And Church, now is the time to preach it, practice it, and demonstrate it. Yes! “The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings”. Mal. 4:2, NKJV. NOW!
Let us pray!
